This blog was designed to be my workbook to document my processes but basically I have been just using my actual workbook to do so this time! But I am going to give you a run down on what went on behind each of my digital media and design projects here.
Digital Media, has been my favourite paper of the two classes that my tutor Philippa teaches. Particularly the latest assignment. Creating a creature turned out to be quite a difficult task as I really couldn't decide what to make. It went from Fairy, to Lady Gaga, to Katy Perry, to a mermaid. The mermaid was something I was really set on until I couldn't get down to the rock pools to do my photoshoot of rock pool things! Then one day, this mermaid evolved into a victorian doll when I was watching the Great Gadbsy and had just bought the latest of issue of Vogue with Daisy from the film on the cover in her glam 1920's outfits. In my opinion, the fashion from the 1920's and prior is some of the classiest fashion in the history of the art. I decided I wanted to make a creature which showed these fashions. My mother makes porcelian dolls and dolls houses etc, we have heaps of classic books with lovely covers and also lots of scrapbooking papers, wallpaper samples and dolls house books! I had the resources so I started taking photos of them! :)
These are some examples of images I used to create my creatures. My creatures have many many layers!!
They started out like this.
And they developed into this.
Overall I am very happy with the way my images turned out. I think they are a huge jump from the original ideas and the first draft of the images. I think the lighting is successful, the movement in the clothing is successful, the layering is good and the shadows on the ground of the dolls house rooms are good.
Design took me a little longer to get motivated for and I couldn't quite decide what I wanted to photograph to show off the bands. I ended up photographing a friends 21st birthday and photographed her while she was dancing!
I chose a really basic colour palette of blue, black and red for the posters. I wanted to make the posters really similar, using the photos of Nicole dancing and then adding filters to them to create drawings out of them. Ultimately, my posters turned out like this, which I am very happy with their consistency within them.
The next steps are cutting out the posters which are attached to their foam board and then I am prepared for my presentation! :) Design and Digital Media DONE!
